										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is the first exhaustive study of the History of the Khaksar Movement in India (1931-1947). Collecting unused materials from the National Archives of India (New Delhi), vast range of Urdu literature of the Khaksars and other sources in India and abroad, Professor De has thrown new light on various aspects of the Movement. The scholars engaged in studying the Muslim Politics in India will get enough materials of a militant Muslim movement which tried to revive the pristine glory of Islam, and rose to prominence as a great challenge to All India Muslim League led by M.A. Jinnah and British authorities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The British Government and the Muslim League played the most vital part in crushing this movement.</span></p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>The present book, which is beyond the constraints of rigid periodization, is an endeavour to challenge certain stereotypes relating to Islam, Sufism, folk-songs and inter-community relations in the South Asian context. By consulting Persian, Urdu, Bengali and English sources, the present work suggests that Sufism was more heterogeneous and complex than we are prepared to accept.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dr. Amit Dey is a Professor of History, the Department of History, Centre For Advanced Studies, University of Calcutta, India. He received a Ph.D. in History in September 1999 from the University of London for his work on The Image of the Prophet in Bengali Muslim Piety; 1850-1947 and completed his doctoral research as a Commonwealth Scholar being affiliated to the Department of History, Royal Holloway, University of London. His area of specialization is islam and islamic Mysticism in Medieval and Modern South Asia.</p>
