A Short Journey into MATHEMATICAL LOGIC, SETS and BOOLEAN ALGEBRA
Based on CBCS Syllabus
The book entitled A Short Journey into Mathematical Logic, Sets and Boolean Algebra is aimed at serving as a textbook written according to the CBCS syllabus for undergraduate students of all Indian Universities. This textbook covers the central topics of propositional logic and predicate logic along with set theory and Boolean algebra in a way that can reasonably be completed within a single semester. All of these topics are very interesting and useful to the students of mathematics and computer science. Chapter 1 contains three sections, namely, foundation of logic, propositional logic and predicate logic. On the other hand, Chapter 2 covers set theory and Chapter 3 covers Boolean algebra. In chapter 2, a brief discussion on native set theory has been introduced. This chapter contains three topics, namely, sets, relations and mappings. Chapter 3 contains three sections, namely, Boolean algebra, Boolean functions and Switching circuits. A lot of worked-out examples and exercises are given at the end of nearly all the sections. The appendix after the third chapter contains MCQs in plenty and will prove to be invaluable to the students for their preparation in several competitive examinations.
