This book is a rigorous study of the history of Tripura within the demographic, political and socio-economic contexts of the period studied (642 to 1949).
The author has discussed almost four hundred and fifty dance forms based on his intimate conversations with the dancers as well as his experience as a spectator. Along with explorations and analyses, he also offers comparative studies of classical dance forms with more unconventional ones, which are indeed great in number. The grand canvas of this book also includes classification of folk-dances and their nature in different countries.
